Change the World is coming

The second Change the World will give ASU students a chance to celebrate innovation by bringing both large and small ideas together in a showcase that will be staged throughout Sun Devil Stadium on April 2.

This year students can expect live music, free food and a lively competition for cash prizes for student performances, art, exhibits and live pitching. More than 500 Sun Devils are expected to participate in the competition and showcase, including organizations and clubs from across the university, representing a wide array of talents, interests and fields of study.

Sun Devils are encouraged to join their peers and the larger community for a high-impact evening where they can learn about some of ASU’s most innovative student-led projects and discover others just beginning to take shape. Students can get involved with Change the World by following the event on social media, registering to participate or attending the pre-event hype sessions.

Tyler Brown, an accounting and sports business senior at ASU, is among the organizers of Change the World. He helped plan last year’s inaugural event and describes Change the World as “beautiful chaos.”

He has signed on to support the 2020 event as a member of multiple planning committees for Change the World, including the marketing committee and performance committee. The committees began meeting last October to plan the event, which Brown says will be “a celebration of innovation and creativity whose purpose is to showcase the amazing work that ASU students are already doing on campus.”

Through the Change the World experience, participants will share their projects and ideas and how they are already working to build a better future.

Additionally, the event provides ASU student participants and audience members a university-wide opportunity to network, spread ideas and learn from other students.

“ASU is home to some of the most brilliant people who are doing some of the most brilliant things, and this event is meant to get those people out there and showcase to the community to other ASU students and to the world.”

More information can be found on the Change the World website. Updates on the event can also be found on the events on Twitter and Instagram pages. Registration for the event ends March 2. Students who wish to participate can register to perform, pitch, exhibit and showcase now. Change the World is free and open to the public and will take place April 2 at Sun Devil Stadium.

The next Hype session will be Feb. 26 at 6 p.m. in the Senita Ballroom of the Student Pavilion on the Tempe campus.
