The Student Center at the Post Office is where students can find ASU Counseling Services, ASU Police, Career Services, Dean of Students, Student Advocacy, Student Rights and Responsibilities, Student Engagement and TRIO.

Gone are the days when a visit to the dean's office means trouble. Here at ASU, the Dean of Students is an important resource for student support. From financial aid assistance, mental health support, or simply looking for more information about a club, the dean’s office is ready to help!

The Dean of Students acts as a connector to information and resources for ASU students. Not sure where to start? The Dean of Students website

is a jumping off point for a variety of resources and important information such as student rights, advocacy and safety, among other topics.

Cecilia Alcantar, a junior mechanical engineering systems major and Student Body President on the Polytechnic campus, recalls a fellow student’s experience with the dean's office.

“[This student] had a $10,000 scholarship, but because of COVID [the people offering the scholarship] didn’t have the money to continue it,” says Cecilia. “She ended up going to the dean’s office and they were able to look at her financial aid package and adjust it, and now she’s still here at ASU.”

ASU enrollment data shows that 89 percent of ASU undergraduate students received some level of financial assistance in fall 2020. In addition to helping  current students connect with ASU Financial Aid and Scholarship Services when needed, the Dean of Students also provides information about university resources such as counseling, ASU health services, student advocacy and assistance, sexual and relationship violence prevention and response and broader community resources. This information is found on the Dean of Students website under Basic Needs.

Another student, West campus junior Hasti Asrari, recalls her first year at ASU and how the Dean of Students Office helped to ease her transition to university life.

“I felt as if I was in this space filled with thousands of people, and my own problems or my own concerns wouldn’t be much of an issue to anyone.” She adds, “I wasn’t familiar with college life when I came to ASU. So I either went to my advisors and anyone I could seek help from, and the Dean of Students is one of those resources I have referred many people to go see.”

The Dean of Students is dedicated to student achievement in and out of the classroom, and is fully committed to helping students make the most of their time at ASU through a student-centered experience rooted in skill building, community building and healthfulness.

There are more than 1,500 student clubs and organizations at ASU. The dean’s office can easily help students find clubs that interest them and put them in contact with members of the club to join.

The dean’s office exists to support students, whether it be related to financial aid, housing or just helping students make connections. Don’t be afraid to connect with the office regarding any issue, big or small. There is an Office of the Dean of Students on every campus.
