Finding a new place to live can be stressful. That’s why Off-Campus Housing at Arizona State University is here to help.

The Off-Campus Housing Fair provides a one-stop virtual shop for housing options recommended by ASU students and staff. The resource fair has been hosted by Off-Campus Housing and ASU Student Media every November and March since 2008 to showcase communities on and off campus in which Sun Devils can thrive. This spring’s virtual event will be presented online March 17–18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature live communication with on- and off-campus housing representatives, virtual tours, advice from peers, giveaways and more.

Noah Bulson, a graphic designer for ASU Student Media, is promoting the housing fair to students as an opportunity designed to make finding housing easy and accessible.

“Students always ask ‘Where should I live?’ and it's our job to give them the resources they need to make an educated search,” said Bulson, a junior environmental design major.

Access to so many resources at once is key. Moses Adams, a senior studying digital marketing, is helping Student Media to coordinate with vendors at the fair and get different deals and options in front of students so they can make the best decisions for them.

“I think it’s a great opportunity for students to basically apartment shop. It's like driving around town and talking to different leasing agents, but it saves them so much time because everything is in one place,” he said.

It’s a good opportunity to see what meets your specific financial and amenity needs.

“I always inform students that we have a wide variety of different apartments at the housing fair with a wide range of affordability. Some options are quite affordable,” Adams said.

To Adams, presenting the event virtually has been a challenge but a rewarding one. It makes things safer for students and vendors and might make the event more accessible for people who can’t make it to campus.

Moira Hadley, a junior majoring in materials science and engineering, said part of her role in ASU Student Media has been to assist with the fair and also do research for the Off-Campus Housing Guide, which students can access anytime.

Hadley said that she’ll be attending the fair to get more information herself about apartments.

“I’m looking forward to meeting representatives from different apartment complexes close to my campus and asking questions such as the cost of rent, the inclusion of utilities and the community atmosphere of the complex,” she said.

Sometimes the most useful thing is just having an easy place to begin your search, Hadley said.

“Personally, I think knowing that this is an event that takes place is quite useful to begin with, especially if you're considering living off-campus in the future and don't know where to start,” she said.
