Sun Devils look forward to Homecoming 2022
Homecoming is here, and students across ASU are joining with faculty, staff, alumni and friends in the larger community for a week of festivities to celebrate Sun Devil spirit, pride and tradition.
Student leaders with ASU’s Programming and Activities Board have been working hard to make this year’s Homecoming week the largest and most exciting celebration yet. The weeklong celebration was off to a running start on Sunday, Nov. 13 with the 12th annual Sparky's 5k/10k and Carnival, a family-friendly community-wide event at ASU West Campus. The event was open to people of all ages, featuring music, lawn games, and carnival rides. Homecoming Week is continuing to unfold with signature events to enjoy at all four ASU campuses leading up to the Homecoming Parade, Block Party and Sun Devil Football game on Saturday, November 19 on ASU’s Tempe campus.
ASU’s Programing and Activities Board has planned four signature events especially for students that embody the 2022 homecoming theme, “Devils through the Decades.”

The PAB encourages students to register to attend the events via Sun Devil Sync and to stay updated as new activities are added.
Anne Perry, a sophomore studying sports journalism, serves as Student Center Director for PAB. She has worked closely with the planning team for The 90s Rock! Dance on ASU’s Downtown Phoenix campus, and plans to attend many other Homecoming events this week.
Perry said she hopes this year’s homecoming theme will be a hit with Sun Devils this year..
“The theme is a really cool concept, and I think that this year is gonna be even more fun than it has been in the past,” Perry said.
Fernanda Ruiz Martinez, a senior journalism major at the Downtown Phoenix campus, is also excited for this year’s festivities.
“My favorite homecoming event is the dance,” said Martinez, who serves as Director of Communications for Undergraduate Student Government. “ I love that the Downtown campus is the host every year. We’re always happy to have other campuses here and share our campus experience with them,” Martinez added.
Perry said student leaders with PAB are deeply committed to ensuring that this year’s homecoming experience is extra special for their peers.
“Students should come to Homecoming events because everyone who works on these events works so hard to make sure everything is perfect. The events are always fun and we usually have some sort of free incentive or food, it's a good way to get involved in on-campus activities,” Perry said.
Martinez emphasized the opportunity to connect with Sun Devil traditions as a key reason to participate and be part of the experience.
“Homecoming is a tradition that student organizations work hard to put together. It’s a great way to meet other students and interact with each other, especially when people are coming from different campuses,” Martinez said.
Community members and students are invited to time-honored homecoming festivities including Lantern Walk, the homecoming parade and block party.
