ASU Quick Pitch night supports students with entrepreneurial ideas

This spring, a new event from Changemaker Central @ ASU offered entreprenuers feedback, resources and encouragement for their ideas for products or initiatives.

Quick Pitch night at ASU, which was every other Thursday from 6–7 p.m., provided the tools, connections and support to help move Sun Devils' ideas forward. Hosted by the Entrepreneurship and Innovation team at Changemaker Central @ ASU, Quick Pitch night is a great opportunity to hear from an experienced entrepreneur who will provide guidance and answers to questions.

Sudents also had two minutes to pitch their ideas and receive feedback from a panel of fellow entrepreneurial-minded students and alumni.

Gautam Sethi, a second-year student double majoring in computer science and data science, is the Quick Pitch coordinator on the Entrepreneurship and Innovation committee for Changemaker. Sethi is responsible for organizing and hosting this event. He said students with ideas in all stages and phases of development should feel welcome to participate regardless of where they are in their process.

“Your idea can be something you thought of the night before or a well-developed idea,” Sethi said.

In high school, Sethi spent a lot of time working on science fairs, and he says his “elevator pitch” proved to be very useful when presenting his project to judges. When he heard about this new event that Changemaker was working on, he instantly reached out to the organizers to show his interest in hosting the event.

“Quick Pitch aims to provide a low-stakes environment where budding entrepreneurs can practice their pitch for their new ideas and receive feedback. This feedback is meant to help them either improve their product or their pitch, or both,” he said.
