The first football game of the season is this Thursday, Aug. 29. The Sun Devils will face Kent State at Sun Devil Stadium. The Inferno — the loud and proud student section — will be showing first-year students and diehard upper-division fans the traditions that make ASU home games so spirited.
To make the most of game day, there are a few things you need to know.
First, the fun doesn’t start at the game. Head to downtown Tempe starting at 4 p.m. to the official tailgate party of ASU games: Devils on Mill. The event will also celebrate Rainbow Welcome, which will feature campus resources for LGBTQIA+ students and allies at ASU. Don’t miss out on the food, games, music and more before kickoff.
Second, you need a little Sun Devil Football 101. What should you wear? What should you bring? What can you expect (other than a Sun Devil victory and a really good time)? Remember these tips:
Claim your FREE student ticket on the ASU mobile app. Students should enter the stadium via the Southeast gate.
Remember the clear-bag policy.
Wear gold! (Except for one blackout game and one Maroon Monsoon, see below).
Save the date for the rest of the home football games this season:
Sept. 21 versus Colorado. Wear gold!
Oct. 12 versus Washington State. Wear gold!
Nov. 9 versus USC. This is a blackout game. Wear black!
Nov. 23 versus Oregon. This is the Maroon Monsoon. Wear maroon!
Nov. 30 versus U of A. This is the Territorial Cup. Wear gold!
Help light up the Inferno this season. Go Devils!
